Entrance tickets to the tombs of Sennefer and Rekhmire

TT.96 - The tomb of Sennefer is a reasonable walk from the coach and car park but it is the second half of the walk that is steep and in the heat quite draining. You first reach the tomb of Rekhmire (the other tomb your ticket allows you entry to) as you start the short final climb to a small covered seating area where you can take a break before heading down into the tomb. All the effort is rewarded by a most wonderful tomb.

This is the entrance to the tomb of Sennefer. The steps down are very steep so do take care as some are very narrow whilst others are very deep which can catch you off guard.

When you arrive at the tomb there is this small chamber with a grapevine abundant with grapes painted over the whole ceiling.

This is in the main chamber and this painting of Sennefer is about three-quarters life size.

Though the grapevine doesn't cover all the ceiling in this chamber it is still very effective as you can see in the small picture below.

The colours are amazing and there is so much to take in.

Here we look back from the far end of the main chamber towards the much smaller first chamber.

As you duck down to leave do look up and you will see the picture below.

This is what you will see when you look up as you head out.
