TT.100 - The tomb of Rekhmire is just below that of Sennefer and is included with the same entrance ticket. |
This is the entrance to the tomb of Rekhmire where, unlike the tomb of Sennefer with its steep steps down, it is just a step through the door and you are in the tomb.
It is a simple design, an inverted "T" with an equal sized corridor to the left and the right. The main corridor is straight ahead with the ceiling rising well above you as it heads into the hill. |
Detail from the left hand corridor. Note the monkey on the neck of the giraffe. |
Detail of wine making on the right hand corridor wall. Picking the grapes on the left, transporting them in the middle and pressing them on the right. |
Looking back to the entrance from three-quarters along the main corridor into the hill. It is clear to see how the ceiling rises the deeper in you go into the tomb. |
This is the far end of the corridor
with the burial chamber above
and the false door below.
The walls are so heavily detailed
that we could easily spend
all day looking at them. |
