In this section we will eventually cover all the ancient sites of Luxor but this will take some time to complete so we have started with the sites that are less frequently visited.
There are so many Theban Tombs that they demand an index page of their own. These are the private tombs of the most important people of Luxor many of which worked closely with the pharaoh of the time. To find our more about the tombs that you can visit
Tomb of Ay
This 18th dynasty tomb was originally being built for Tutankhamun but was used by his general Ay. This tomb is outside of the Valley of the Kings. For more information
Prince Khaemwaset
At the time of his death he was the eldest son of Ramses III and he is buried in the Valley of the Queens where you can visit his tomb and it is worth a visit. to see his tomb.
Tutankhamun
Buried in the Valley of the Kings where you can still - for the time being at least - visit his tomb. Here we have some of our pictures of his treasures from the Cairo Museum. There are even a couple of Tutankhamun desktops for you. to see more.

Ramesseum Temple

Temple of Merenptah
to see the remains of this temple of the thirteenth son of Ramses II who became pharaoh after his father's death.
Temple of Mut at Karnak
This temple is dedicated to Mut, the wife of the god of gods Amun and is linked to Karnak temple by and avenue of ram-headed sphinxes. To see more
The Temples dedicated to the God Montu
The ancient falcon headed god Montu had his cult centre in ancient Luxor and there are temples dedicated to him within the Karnak complex as well as at Medamud and Tod all on the east bank of the Nile as well as Armant on the west bank.
Medamud
The temple to Montu at Medamud is not open to visitors but is easily seen from the village road that goes around it. To see this temple to the god Montu which is on a site that pre-dates the mighty Karnak Temple
Tod
Tod is just to the south of Luxor on the east bank of the Nile. This seldom visited temple is perhaps the best preserved temple to the god Montu. To see more

Howard Carter's House
This was the home of Howard Carter when he was in Luxor during the time that the archeologist discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun. The black and white images that were taken at the time by Harry Burton were developed in the darkroom within this house. to see more.
Deir El Medina
Deir El Medina is the workers village and these are the homes of the workers that built and decorated the tombs of the pharaohs but in their free time they built their own tombs. There is also a ptolemaic temple and large well. To find out more
